Determining the Cost of a Carnet

Carnet costs include the "Basic Fees" which are based upon the value of your General List of goods included with your Carnet, the length of your list, and the number of countries you will be visiting. Additional costs may include the security that must be posted with each Carnet, shipping and handling, and insurance for your goods should you choose to purchase it. Depending upon the urgency of your situation, you may also choose to have expedited service or other services at an additional cost. Your freight forwarder or customs broker may also apply for your Carnet on your behalf and may charge a service fee to do so.

Basic Fees

Up to $9,999 $200
$10,000 - $49,999 $230
$50,000 - $249,999 $280
$250,000 or more $330

General List Continuation Sheets

If your list of goods continues beyond a single page, the fee for each additional page is $5

Sets of Vouchers/Counterfoils

Your Carnet includes up to four sets of vouchers and/or counterfoils. This includes (1) pairs of yellow exportation and re-importation counterfoils for use in the United States, (2) pairs of white importation and re-exportation vouchers and associated counterfoils for use in foreign countries, and (3) pairs of blue transit vouchers and associated counterfoils for use with traveling via land through a country en-route to a final destination. There is an additional charge of $10 for each set of vouchers and/or counterfoils beyond the first four pairs. Should you need to order additional sets of vouchers and/or counterfoils at a later date, the fee is $40 for up to four sets and $10 per set after the first four sets.

Shipping and Handling

Shipping and/or Handling fees apply to all orders. Specific fees will be available during the application process.

Security

With each Carnet it is required that that holder post security in the amount of 40% of the value of the goods with the U.S. Council for International Business (the Guaranteeing Association in the United States). This requirement can be met in the form of a cash deposit or a surety bond. If you use a bond, a non-refundable fee is paid (usually a small percentage of the total bond amount) to obtain the bond. Your Roanoke Trade Carnet Service Representative can assist you with more information about Carnet bonds and will let you know the financial requirements for obtaining a bond. For your convenience, Roanoke Trade can issue a bond on your behalf through a licensed insurance company. Your Carnet application services as your bond application should you choose this option.
